Former governor of Lagos State and national
leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC),

Ahmed Tinubu is 63 today.
An accountant and politician, Tinubu was elected
Senator for the Lagos West constituency in Lagos
State, Nigeria in 1993, just before a military take-
over in December 1993. After the return to
democracy, he was elected governor of Lagos
State, holding office from 29 May 1999 to 29 May
2007.
His reign as governor was preceded by
military admin, Buba Marwa and succeeded by
current governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola.
A Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting holder,
Tinubu worked for American companies Arthur
Andersen, Deloitte, Haskins & Sells, and GTE
Services Corporation. In 1983, he joined Mobil Oil
Nigeria, becoming an executive of the company.
