Photos; Flying Tackles, Red Card & More: Chelsea Beats Liverpool in Classic Clash

Flying tackles, players hobbling off and a red card for Cesc Fabregas...check out the details of the classic clash between Liverpool and Chelsea, 5,500 miles away in Los Angeles!

Gary Cahill celebrates his goal to put Chelsea ahead against Liverpool

Spanish playmaker, Cesc Fabregas was sent off for a nasty flying tackle on Estonian defender,  Ragnar Klavan, 20 minutes from time as English Premier League side, Chelsea defeats Liverpool 1-0 at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles few hours ago in their International Champions Cup clash.

According to Dailymail UK, the game was tetchy rather than violent but nothing is ever entirely friendly these days when Liverpool and Chelsea meet as there were high and reckless tackles, regardless of the facts that this was supposed to be little more than a glorified training exercise.

England defender, gary cahill met Cesc Fabregas' corner with a towering header to beat Loris Karius in the Liverpool goal

Fabregas may be off the pace in his first game back as American referee, Baldomero Toledo, having blown for all manner of innocuous fouls, was quite right to reach for a red card.

ix yellow cards and two head injuries were recorded for Liverpool, who lost Marko Grujic after a clash with Bertrand Traore and Dejan Lovren, who was punched by his own goalkeeper. All this without Diego Costa, who is normally the individual responsible for winding up Liverpool.

Fabregas' lunge on Liverpool's Klavan saw him rightfully receive a red card from the referee

Gary Cahill scored the only goal - a header 10 minutes into his first outing since England’s defeat against Iceland at Euro 2016.

Fabregas had delivered the set-piece, an in-swinger. Goalkeeper Loris Karius stayed on his line and Cahill climbed above Grujic to score with a header from six yards.

Klopp embraces Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte as the pair share a joke before the start of the game

Victory may have been nice for Antonio Conte who organised Chelsea in a highly flexible 4-4-2 formation,  at the Pasadena venue where he watched from the bench as Italy lost the 1994 World Cup final on penalties
