out to be having s*exual relationship with another man's wife
A woman whose husband was killed for allegedly having an affair
with a married woman broke down while giving evidence about her late
husband.
The trial in the Durban High Court on Friday had to be adjourned for about 15 minutes for a social worker to assist Nomusa Shozi, 47, the wife of the late Khalami Ernest Shozi.
Shozi was allegedly killed by Nkosinathi Bantubakhe Buthelezi, 40, after finding out he was having a romantic relationship with his wife, Lungile.
Nomusa told the court that her husband was killed in cold blood in front of her eyes.
A man wearing a blue overall and woollen hat forcefully entered their home in KwaNdengezi on the night of August 11 2013 and shot him three times on the chest.
State prosecutor Cheryl Naidu asked Nomusa if she had seen the person who shot her husband.
She replied “yes”, pointing to Buthelezi in the dock.
Buthelezi is facing charges of murder, attempted murder, possession of prohibited firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.
When Nomusa was asked how she had found out that her husband was cheating on her, she said her husband’s boss had approached her and told her that the deceased was having an affair with a married woman in Hluhluwe, north of KwaZulu-Natal.

“[He] took me to the place where my husband was staying. Upon
my arrival, we discussed the matter with my husband and he apologised
about everything,” the widow said.
She told the court that when her husband was at work the next day, she received a phone call from a man who identified himself as Buthelezi, who told her that her husband was having an affair with his wife.
“I told Buthelezi that I didn’t want to talk to strangers and I dropped the call. When he phoned a second time, I asked him what he wanted from me and where he got my cellphone number.
“Buthelezi replied that he wanted me [to] tell my husband to stay away from his wife or else he would kill him,” the widow said.
The deceased was in the Hluhluwe area working when he started the alleged affair with Lungile.
On June 27 2013, Buthelezi, who was a community liaison officer at Umkhanyakude district municipality, allegedly torched Shozi’s vehicle and shot him twice in the leg, warning him to stay away from his wife. The deceased allegedly confronted Buthelezi and vowed to harm him.
