A horrific crash has caused unbelievable damage to several lives and properties in a very crowded street.
Police cordone the street where the crash occurred
A busy shopping street in London has been left in a bad shape in a recent car crash.
Eyewitnesses said the street was left like a “battlefield” after the car ploughed through a crowd of pedestrians.
According to Daily Star UK, four people are in hospital – one in a
life-threatening condition – after the awful scenes in West Kensington,
west London.
A black Audi A3 crashed into a group of pedestrians crossing the
road while turning into a side street in North End Road, behind Earl’s
Court, officers say.
Witnesses described the scenes as a “battlefield” with “blood everywhere” after the collision.
A 19-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing injury by
dangerous driving – while a passenger in the Audi was treated for minor
injuries.
A man in his 20s was thrown into the air after being hit head-on by the car and he remains in intensive care.
Three other casualties, a 56-year-old man and two men in their 20s,
were given emergency treatment by paramedics before being transferred
to hospital after the incident at 6.45pm yesterday.
An 18-year-old witness told the Evening Standard: “It’s a blind spot that turn. One guy who slammed into the windscreen.
“He’s flown up in the air and landed on his head. Another man's
legs were sent in completely the wrong direction. Another two people
were smashed into railings.
“There’s so much blood everywhere, it’s the worst thing I’ve ever seen.”
Srivinas Namilikonda, 32, from Hounslow, said three medical students helped victims until ambulances arrived.
He said: "One person was unconscious and had a serious head
injury – it was bleeding so heavily. Another had a broken leg and he was
screaming in pain. Another was conscious but he wasn’t moving.”
The IT Worker added: “It was horrific feeling. I have never seen anything like this before. So many people were crying.”
A 20-year-old shopkeeper whose business overlooks the scene said: “It
looked like the end of a battle in a film, with bodies on stretchers,
children crying and doctors racing around trying to save people."
A Met Police spokesman said: "At this early stage, it is
believed that the car - a black Audi A3 - was travelling along North End
Road when it became involved in a collision with the victims as they
crossed the road.
“The car collided with four pedestrians. All four were taken to hospital.
“A 56-year-old man and two men in their twenties are in a
non-life threatening condition. The fourth man, in his 20s, remains in a
critical condition.
“The car involved stopped at the scene. A 19-year-old woman was
arrested by officers on suspicion by causing injury by dangerous
driving. She is currently in custody.
“A female passenger who was in the vehicle involved received treatment at the scene for minor injuries. Enquiries are ongoing.”
