The Federal Government on Thursday took delivery of a
calibration aircraft for the Nigerian aviation industry.
The aircraft is worth $8.5m.
This was announced by the Minister of Aviation,
Hadi Sirika
who announced on his Twitter handle
that it would make Nigeria’s
airspace safer.
In a delightful tone his tweet read, ”Just received
new
calibration aircraft for the country. Make
is King Air 350i. Cost $8.5M.

contracting it to South Africa or Niger at about
$500K
every 6 months is over. Our airspace is
safer. Thanks Mr President, we
started &
finished during your regime
Providing further explanation on the usefulness
of the
aircraft, the minister said, “The purpose
of this aircraft is to
calibrate our equipment and
aids in the country for the purpose of
flight operations.
We used to have one in Nigeria but for the last two
decades,
we never had one.”
Sirika revealed that the prompting for the purchase of the
aircraft was
when the reconstruction of the Abuja airport runway was
ongoing, there was the need recalibrate all the landing
aids at the
time, which was actually the requirement.
“This is to ensure they are working in perfect
order,” he added.
He, however, noted that at that time Nigeria did not
have the capability as a country.
